Jan 20-24 Review Week

Hello parents and students.  We have less then two weeks left to go in semester 1.  It is important that you hand in any outstanding assignments before Jan 31, 2014.  We have started preparing for our final exams.  All this week we will be completing review and discussing the things that could show up on the final exam.  Please use the learning support links on our blog to further support your preparation for the final exam.

Yesterday in Raven's we reviewed the following:
Chapter 11 Metis and Non-Status People
Chapter 17 First Nation Stereotypes

Today in class we will continue to finish our review on the Metis + First Nation stereotypes

English 11

Reviewed the how to plan for a multi paragraph and a thesis formula (thesis statement = the topic + your opinion)
- planned and prepped for possible multi-paragraph questions

- today we will continue to work with possible multi paragraph questions

Social Studies 10
-Yesterday in SS 10 we reviewed Chapter 2 that looks at "Building a Nation" (Confederation)

Today we will be reviewing Chapter 3- Geography
Big ideas include- Physiographic Regions, Lines of Lat/Long, climate graphs

Homework- each chapter review sheet is worth 10 marks = a total of 6 marks (we completed 6 chapters)

Hello parents and students.  Happy Friday.  Only 3 weeks left before the end of the term.  We will be busy finishing off units and preparing for our final exams.

- reviewed the Cariboo gold rush
- worked on our Bakerville Comic Strip

Hello parents and students.  Today was a very busy day.

In class today we covered the following concepts:

English 11- SIFTed a poem called "A History Lesson"
-we discussed what an allusion is and identified allusions in the poem

FN 12
- we discussed the following topics (please read your textbook to refresh your mind on what was presented
-White paper- documents and government changes
-Continental Express
-Constitution Act 1982
-Oka Crisis

Homework: please read through chapter 9 and review the 4 court cases presented.

Socials Studies 10
-reviewed Oregon Territory Dispute
-Vancouver Island as a colony
-started a Cariboo gold rush assignment

Welcome Back

Hello students and parents.  Welcome back and Happy New Year!  I look forward to starting the new year and getting back into the rhythm of things.

Over the past couple of classes we have been reviewing what we have learned up until this point of time.

Raven's have been creating a timeline to refresh our minds about the big ideas discussed in Chapters 1-9.

We have also started a poetry unit.  In yesterday and today's class we viewed a slam poetry documentary called "Louder Than A Bomb"

- we have been reviewing chapter 1-6
-the students have been creating a course timeline that reflects the big concepts that we have covered


Tomorrow we will be jumping back into the course and most importantly start preparing for our final exams towards the end of the semester.
